The Story of Adopting St. Nick
Maren is a busy single mother who lives with her adopted daughter, Leah. She runs her late father’s much-loved hardware store and spends most of her time helping people in the town fix things. Because of her busy life, she rarely has time for herself.
When Leah hears about the Christmas Companions program at Jolly Acres a new retirement community, she is excited to join. She misses having a grandfather in her life. Leah is paired with Kris, a cheerful resident who looks a lot like Santa Claus.
At the retirement community, Maren meets Reid, who helps open and manage new retirement centers in different places. He often travels for his job, so he never stays in one town for very long.
Things become difficult when the contractor working on the community room suddenly leaves the project. Wanting to keep the Christmas program going for Leah and Kris, Maren offers to help finish the room.
As Maren spends more time with Reid, she learns that she does not have to do everything alone. She slowly becomes comfortable asking for help and letting people into her life.
Meanwhile, Reid must decide whether to accept another job that would take him far away. With a little Christmas magic and help from Kris, Maren and Reid begin to understand where they truly belong.
