Andie MacDowell was born to Marion St. Pierre MacDowell and Pauline Johnston aka Paula. Her father Marion St. Pierre MacDowell was a lumber executive. He has ancestry of English, French, Scottish, Irish, and Welsh. Her mother Pauline Johnston was an alcoholic and they got divorced when was just six years old.
Andie’s mother died due to a heart attack when she was 53 years; she died after being sober for nearly a year. When Andie became eight her father remarried.
Education
As for her studies, she graduated from Gaffney High School in the year 1976, she then went to attend Winthrop University for two years before; after she moved to Columbia, South Carolina.
She was spotted by a representative from Wilhelmina Models during her trip to Los Angeles and she signed a modeling contract in the year of 1978 with Elite Model Management in New York City.
