Early Life, Family, and Relationship
Cohen was a Miami, Florida, native. He is a Jew. In high school, Cohen participated in both track and football. He graduated in 2001 after spending the second through twelfth grades at American Heritage School.
Cohen participated in motocross and car racing. He received an honors degree. Cohen attended Florida State to pursue a business degree. He engaged in acting courses while attending college. Cohen relocated to Los Angeles to pursue acting after completing college.

Career, Struggle, Turning Point, and Success
Cohen has acted as a leading man in a number of movies, including Dark House, Boogeyman 2, and The N’s South of Nowhere. On the WB web series Rockville CA, which Josh Schwartz of The O.C. produced, he portrayed Syd. He co-produced The Outside in 2009, a film starring Rob Moran from South of Nowhere, Michael Graziadei, Dante Basco, and Nia Peeples. Matt appeared as a young John Winchester in the third episode of Supernatural’s fourth season on The CW in late 2008; he subsequently returned in the fifth season episode “The Song Remains the Same.”
He returned in the episode “Baby” of the eleventh season, but it was later discovered that he was really an unidentified person pretending to be John Winchester in order to speak with Sam in his nightmares. Later, Lucifer was revealed to be this entity. In the horror movie Chain Letter, he played Johnny Jones.
After taking over for Drew Seeley in the role, he appeared as Jeremy in a guest appearance in season four of 90210. On August 11, 2015, it was revealed that Cohen will return for the second season of How to Get Away with Murder as Levi, a gorgeous, edgy, working-class man.
He will make his debut appearance in episode two and will appear in all three episodes. He became Griffin Munro’s co-star at General Hospital in 2016. It was revealed in March 2019 that Cohen will quit General Hospital, and on March 22, 2019, he would make his last appearance.
It was reported that Cohen will visit General Hospital again in December 2019. Cohen visited from December 6–10, 2019. Cohen is a director on Days of Our Lives as of February 2020.
