When she sees a comet flash across the skyshe makes a wish for a different life.
To her shock, a sailor and Newport historian named Nick Brown suddenly appears on her boat. Ella thinks he’s a stowaway, but Nick insists the schooner belongs to him. Their argument ends only when Ella realizes something incredible she has somehow traveled from 1905 to the year 2025.
As Ella explores this new time, she discovers what her future in 1905 would be and also begins to fall for Nick. For the first time, she understands what true love feels like. But the longer she stays in the present, the more she risks losing the legacy she built in her own time and even changing Newport’s history. Together, she and Nick plan her journey back. Yet when Ella finally returns home, she finds a future even more surprising than the one she left behind.
