Brandon James Routh is an American actor known for his role as Superman in the film Superman Returns. He is also known for his role as Daniel Shaw in the NBC television series Chuck.

So far he has worked in twoHallmark movie- The Nine Lives of Christmas, and The Nine Kittens of Christmas. In the hallmark movie The Nine Lives of Christmas, he played the role of Zachary Stone. The movie is about a veterinary student and a stray cat who challenge a fireman’s commitment to life as a bachelor.

In The Nine Lives of Christmas movies, cat lovers Zachary and Marilee are thrown back together when they are tasked to find homes for a litter of adorable kittens during Christmas time.

Routh was born on October 9, 1979, in Des Moines, Iowa, United States. His mother Catherine LaVaughn was a teacher and his father Ronald Ray Routh was a carpenter. He was raised in Woolstock in a Methodist family. He has a sister named Sara Routh. He has English, German, Dutch, and Scottish ancestry.

Education

Routh attended Norwalk High School and later attended the University of Lowa. During college, he modeled and acted to pay for tuition.

On November 24, 2007, he married Courtney Ford in Santa Barbara. They had their first child a son named Leo James, in 2012.

On January 8, 2025, Courtney Ford filed for divorce, saying they had irreconcilable differences. By the end of January, it was reported that Brandon Routh and Courtney Ford had agreed on the terms of their divorce and were sending the papers to the court.
