Ledisi Anibade Young is an American actress, singer, songwriter, producer, and author. She has two Grammy nominations for her fourth album Turn Me Loose.
In 1995, she started her own band called Anibade. The band was very popular in the San Francisco Bay Area and had die-hard fans who called themselves Ledheads. In 2000, she released her first album Soul singer. Some of the songs include Get Outta My Kitchen, Soul singer, Take Time, and Stop Living In Ya Head.
In 2002, she released her second album Feeling Orange But Sometimes Blue. Some of the songs include So Right, I’ve Got It, Sugar Brown Sugar, Meeting Marcus on a Thursday, Round Midnight, Straight No Chaser, Feeling Orange but Sometimes Blue, In A Sentimental Mood, and If You Go.
Some of her other albums include Lost & Found, Turn Me Loose, Pieces of Me, The Truth, Let Love Rule, The Wild Card, and Ledisi Sings Nina.
She has received several nominations for Grammy Awards for Best New Artist, Best R&B Album, Best R&B Song, Best R&B Performance, Best Traditional R&B Performance, and Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album.
In 2021, she won the Grammy Award for Best Traditional R&B Performance for her song Anything For You. She also won the Soul Certified Award in 2017 and 2018.
