Davis was born on August 11, 1965, in St. Matthews, South Carolina, United States. Her parents are Dan Davis and Mae Alice Davis. She has four sisters and one brother. After she was born, she and her parents moved to Rhode Island while her other siblings were living with their grandparents.
She attended Central Falls High School. During high school, she enrolled at the Young People’s School for Performing Arts in West Warwick in Rhode Island. After graduating from high school, she studied theatre at Rhode Island College and graduated in 1988. Then she attended Juilliard School from 1989 to 1993. In 2003, she married actor Julius Tennon.
The couple adopted an infant daughter in 2011 and named her Genesis. Her height is 5 feet 5 inches, weight is 61 kg, hair color is black, and eye color is black. Her net worth is estimated to be $25 million.
