Celestine Beyoncé Knowles-Lawson well-known as Tina Knowles is an American actress, businesswoman, fashion designer and philanthropist. She is best known for her brands House of Deréon and Miss Tina by Tina Knowles. She is the mother of singers Beyoncé and Solange Knowles.

Knowles started her acting career as a makeup artist at the age of 19. She worked for Shiseido Cosmetics. She has also worked as a dance choreographer for UAB. In 1990, she opened a 12-seat hair salon in Texas. In 2002, she published her first book – Destiny’s Style: Bootylicious Fashion, Beauty and Lifestyle Secrets From Destiny’s Child.

Knowles was born on January 4, 1954, in Galveston, Texas, United States. Her father, Lumis Albert Beyincé, was a longshoreman and her mother Agnéz Beyincé (née Deréon), was a seamstress. She has six siblings. She married Mathew Knowles, a Xerox salesman in 1980.

The couple has two daughters, Beyoncé, born in 1981, and Solange, born in 1986. In 2012, she became the grandmother of Blue Ivy Carter, daughter of Beyoncé and Jay-Z. In 2015, she married actor Richard Lawson.

Knowles has supported several political and civil rights over the years. She has supported several movements that oppose gender inequality in the United States, especially with regard to the African American community and the LGBT community.

In 2022, she appeared in the television film Wrath: A Seven Deadly Sins Story, in which she played the role of Sarah. She also voiced Ms. Gina in the American animated television series The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder.

As a producer, she produced the television series Talks with Mama Tina in 2021 and 2022, Profiled: The Black Man, and Black Terror in 2022. Profiled: The Black Man is a program for Discovery, Inc and Oprah Winfrey Network, which shows the difficulties Black men face in today’s world and also highlights and celebrates the triumphs and successes of everyday living. Her show Talks with Mama Tina aired on Facebook in December 2021, including interviews with celebrities like Ciara and Zendaya.
