Actress Stacey Farber was born in Canada on August 25, 1987. She is best recognized for her role as Ellie Nash in Degrassi: The Next Generation’s seasons two through eight. She appeared in the CBC television series 18 to Life from 2010 to 2011.

Stacey portrayed Sydney Katz in the Canadian medical program Saving Hope from 2014 to 2017. She is also well-known for her recurring parts on the CW superhero series Superman and Lois as well as the Netflix drama Virgin River.

Jewish parents gave birth to Farber in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The exclusive Branksome Hall school for females only awarded her a diploma in 2005. She spent her first year of college at York University in Toronto in 2007, moved to Eugene Lang College at The New School, and earned her degree there in 2009.

Career, Struggle, Turning Point, and Success

The Next Generation, Farber portrays Ellie Nash, a disturbed young woman who struggles with depression and cutting while dealing with her alcoholic mother.

She debuted in the show’s second season as a recurring character before being elevated to a permanent position in the third season, where she remained until the conclusion of season seven.

She received a nomination for her performance on Degrassi for a Gemini Award in the category of “Best Performance in a Youth Program or Series,” which is Canada’s highest acting honor.

Farber played Ellie in the Degrassi television series and also had an appearance in the 2001 Canadian short film Bagatelle. She appeared as Young Kathryn in the 2002 crime thriller Narc, as Lacy Sanders in a cameo role on an episode of Doc, and presented the season finale of The N’s Best Friend’s Date in 2004–2005.

Stacey portrayed Mary in the science fiction animated series Dark Oracle as well. She starred in Instant Star as herself and had a miniseries called Stacey’s NYC 101 on The N’s The Click in 2006. She has performed in a number of stage plays, including Love, Loss, and What I Wore, in addition to her film work.

Michael Seater and Farber co-starred in 18 to Life from 2010 to 2011. Seater married Farber at age 18, despite the objections of both sets of parents, in the CBC/CW series. The next eleven episodes were shot in the summer 2010 after the pilot, which was originally shot in Montreal in 2008.

According to Toronto Star critic Raju Mudhar, the show had an “almost Juno-like feel.” He said the protagonists had “some chemistry and both are appealing, young performers to watch,” despite not liking the show. Even though they had only ever met for the television film Degrassi Goes Hollywood, the two were said to “get along fabulously” in real life. The show received a Gemini Award nomination for outstanding ensemble performance.

On the CW television series Superman & Lois, Farber was cast in the recurring character of Leslie Larr, a “tough, world-worn dream killer,” in October 2020. She was given the recurring role of Tara Anderson in the third season of the drama Netflix series Virgin River in December 2020.
