Lil Skies is a rapper from the United States best known for his first mixtape, ‘Life of a Dark Rose,’ and tracks like ‘Red Roses’ and ‘Nowadays.’ Born and bred in Pennsylvania, he got musical inspiration from his father, a struggling rapper who never made it in the music industry. Lil Skies was born Kimetrius Foose on August 4, 1998, in a middle-class family to multiracial American parents. Michael Burton Jr., his father, was a struggling musician who went by the stage name ‘Dark Skies.’ Skies fell in love with music despite the fact that he was unable to pursue a successful music career. Michael enjoyed listening to rap music as a youngster.

Skyes, on the other hand, was exposed to all genres by his father. Michael would often accompany him to the studios. Skies began freestyling on his own, inspired by his father. His voice was recorded and shown to his friends by his father. As a result, at the age of four, Skies entered a recording studio for the first time.

His father was severely burned and injured in an explosion while he was at school. Skied finally connected with his father while he was in the hospital. Skies had previously been unconcerned about his career. However, bonding with his father changed his perspective. He soon decided that he wanted to be a rapper.

Skies graduated from ‘Waynesboro Area High School’ in Pennsylvania with honors. He became a huge fan of Lil Wayne and 50 Cent after listening to their music. He chose the stage name ‘Lil Skies’ after being inspired by Lil Wayne.

Skies enrolled at ‘Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania’ after graduating from high school. He’d decided that now was the time to pursue a full-fledged music career. He tattooed his face in order to avoid getting a steady job. He dropped out of college after the first year and began rapping at the age of 18.

He had already been freestyling on rap tracks at college events by the time he began university. He was very bright academically. As a consequence, he rose to prominence in college. He once had the chance to open a Fetty Wap performance. As a result, he amassed a sizable internet following.

However, he was already a small star on ‘YouTube’ and ‘SoundCloud’ at the time. In August 2015, he released his music video for the song ‘Lonely,’ and the overwhelming reaction inspired him to create more songs. He kept uploading music videos to ‘YouTube,’ progressively gaining admirers.

In 2016, he released a second music video, ‘Da Sauce,’ which became a huge smash with over a million “views.” With each new upload, his ‘SoundCloud’ account garnered fans. Skies published his first mixtape, ‘Good Grades, Bad Habits 2,’ the following year.

He had already dropped out of college when he began creating music full-time in 2017. ‘Alone,’ his second official mixtape, was released in January 2017. Following that, he began work on his first debut album, ‘All We Got,’ which was to be recorded under the independent label.

The album’s first song, ‘Red Roses,’ was released in July 2017. The record was an immediate smash, reaching number one on the Billboard Hot 100 list. Skies released another track, ‘Nowadays,’ in December 2017, which did marginally better on the American rap charts. The song debuted at number 85 on the Billboard Hot 100 and peaked at number 55. The record has been downloaded over 500 thousand times and has been certified “gold” by the RIAA.

‘Atlantic Records’ had previously formed a commercial relationship with him in January 2018, prior to the publication of his mixtape ‘Life of a Dark Rose.’ This resulted in the promise of a major release, and Skies was thus all set to establish himself as a notable rapper.

The tape was launched and quickly became a commercial success. Two of the album’s tracks had already been released, providing impetus to the album’s formal release. Jamaal Henry, Alex Petit, Julian Gramma, Snodgrass, and Nicholas Mira were among the artists featured on the 14-track album.

The album debuted at number 23 on the ‘Billboard 200’ chart and was also in the top 20 of many other charts. By the end of the month, the album had risen to the top of several of those rankings. The majority of reviewers praised the album. However, not everyone was pleased.

Skies embarked on the ‘Life of a Dark Rose Tour’ in 2018 following the release of his album. However, the tour was cut short when he became ill in the middle of it.
