Kerry Washington the American actress is the daughter of Earl Washington, a real estate broker whereas her mother Valerie, was a professor and educational consultant. Her father is of African American origin, who moved from South Carolina to Brooklyn.

Whereas her mother’s family is from the Manhattan. She has once stated that her mother is of a mixed-race in Jamaica. Naturally, she is English and Scottish and Native American and she has also descended from the Africans who were enslaved in the Caribbeans. She is also a cousin of Colin Powell, the former U.S. Secretary of State from her mother’s side.

She has been with the Youth Theater teen group named, TADA! and she has also attended the Spence School which is in Manhattan since she was a kid and till she got graduation in high school which was in the year of 1994. When she was at the age of thirteen she was once taken to see the Nelson Mandela speech at the Yankee Stadium when he was released from the prison.

She has also gone to George Washington University where she got graduated from, in the year of 1998 which is a double major in anthropology and sociology. She also had her studies in the Michael Howard Studios in New York City.
