Kathleen Kirkwood was born on 20th April 1959 and was born in the Laurelton neighborhood of Queens to Gerard P. Kirkwood who was the former Katherine Noke. She grew up in the Valley Stream and had her schooling at Maria Regina High School in Hartsdale, N.Y. She started modeling at the age of nineteen and she was getting famous soon after she signed the Ford agency agreement she was hit by a car.
Kathleen didn’t have any permanent injuries though her contract was canceled. She has stated once that she was wearing beautiful clothing and though she lost her job she still wanted to wear those clothes and figured out a way to hack the system. Kathleen in the year 1982 having it the era of the padded shoulder invented the clip-on shoulder pad by removing them from clothing and affixing them to bra straps with Velcro. It quickly started spreading and her friends asked for those the very following year Bloomingdale ordered the first of her Pints of pads.
