Actress Jennifer Eve Garth was born in the United States on April 3, 1972. She is recognized for her roles as Val Tyler on the comedy What I Like About You and Kelly Taylor throughout the Beverly Hills, 90210 series (2002–06). She appeared in Jennie Garth: A Little Bit Country, her own reality series, which aired on CMT in 2012. Deep Thoughts From a Hollywood Blonde, her autobiography, was released by New American Library on April 1, 2014.

Jennie Garth Early Life

Garth was conceived by John and Carolyn Garth in Urbana, Illinois. Garth, the only child of their union and the youngest of seven children spent much of her formative years on a 25-acre horse ranch between Sadorus and Arcola, Illinois. When Garth was around 13 years old, the family finally moved to Glendale, Arizona after living in Tuscola, Illinois for a while. Randy James, a scout, and manager for Hollywood, quickly saw her at a local talent competition when she was studying dance and modeling.

In her freshman year, she enrolled in Greenway High School, and in her sophomore year, she moved to Apollo High School. Garth, who was adamant about becoming an actor, would get audition materials from Los Angeles, which she would work on with a nearby acting instructor named Jean Fowler. After working in Los Angeles with James during her junior year of high school, she stopped attending class to finish her high school education there.

She was cast as Kelly Taylor in the television series Beverly Hills, 90210 in 1990. Garth’s character is confronted with challenging situations in her personal life and with her family during the course of the series. All 10 of the show’s seasons include Garth. She was the second most cast member to direct two episodes. For this part, she received a nomination for a Teen Choice Award and a Young Artist Award. She also had a key role at the beginning of the spin-offs Melrose Place and 90210, with Kelly’s role becoming a continuity symbol due to her appearance in the majority of franchise episodes.

She was able to land numerous leading parts in made-for-TV movies in the 1990s because of her popularity on Beverly Hills, 90210, including Danielle Steel’s Star (1993), Without Consent (1994), Lies of the Heart: The Story of Laurie Kellogg (1994), Falling for You (1995), and An Unfinished Affair (1995).
