The movie is all about Hanukkah, family, love, romance, and traditional food. Hanukkah On Rye is a complete package of a new romance with an old-world twist.
Jacob/Jake Leven’s (Jeremy Jordan) and Molly Gilbert’s (Yael Grobglas) families own world-class Jewish delis in the city. But they are competing deli owners. Jason starts another deli on the same block as Molly’s. So tension escalates between the couple.
Both Jacob’s and Molly’s grandmothers sign them up for an old-school matchmaking service in Brooklyn that involves writing letters and not e-mails or texting! In a city of 18 million people, Jacob and Molly find The One.
Not knowing that they are actually writing to each other, Jacob and Molly form a real connection. Matchmaking that happened during Hanukkah develops into a romantic relationship.
