Daveed Daniele Diggs is an American actor, film producer, singer, rapper, and songwriter. He is a part of a hip hop group called Clipping, in which he is the vocalist.

Diggs started his acting career as a theatre artist. His first play was Temptation in 2005, in which he played the role of Dr. Henry Foustka. His other stage plays are Two Rooms, The Tempest, Six Degrees of Separation, Troilus and Cressida, A Civil War Christmas, Red Light Winter, Mirrors in Every Corner, In The Red and Brown Water, Fabulation or the Re-Education of Undine, A Behanding in Spokane, Hamilton, White Noise, and Freestyle Love Supreme.

He has appeared in short films like Rock Hard: The Rise and Fall of Sexual Detergent, and Yoga Boner. His other films include Zootopia, Growing Up Wild, Wonder, Ferdinand, Blindspotting, Velvet Buzzsaw, Hamilton, Soul, The Starling, and DC League of Super-Pets.

Diggs is the vocalist and writer for the experimental hip hop group Clipping. The group was founded in 2009 by William Hutson and Jonathan Snipes. Diggs joined the group in 2010. He is known for albums like CLPPNG, Small Things to a Giant, Splendor & Misery, Collin EP, Seven Nights in Chicago, Visions of Bodies Being Burned, There Existed an Addiction to Blood, and Blindspotting: The Miles EP.

Diggs was born on January 24, 1982, in Oakland, California, United States. His father, Dountes Diggs, is a bus driver, and his mother, Barbara, is a social worker. Diggs name Daveed is the Hebrew pronunciation of David. Diggs went to Berkeley High School. He attended Brown University where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in theatre arts in 2004. As a sophomore, he broke the Brown Bears’ school record in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.21 seconds. For a brief period of time, he worked as a substitute teacher at Brown.
