Rhea was born on April 13, 1964, in Westmount, Quebec. She is a daughter of gynecologists David and Margery Rhea and a native of Westmount, Quebec, and was born and raised there. Cynthia and Celia are two of her sisters. She went to the private, all-girls The Study in Westmount, Québec, Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia, and the University of Arizona. Rhea’s early career began in the early 1990s when she performed at various comedy clubs and venues in New York City.
