Erika Jane Christensen, an American actress and singer, was born on August 19, 1982. Her acting credits include The Tortured (2010), The Banger Sisters (2002), The Perfect Score (2004), Flightplan (2005), How to Rob a Bank (2007), Traffic (2000), Swimfan (2002), and The Banger Sisters (2017). She and her co-stars shared the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture for their work in Traffic, which also earned her the MTV Movie Award for Breakthrough Female Performance.

She had a starring role in the ABC drama series Six Degrees in 2006. Christensen played Julia Braverman-Graham in the NBC family drama series Parenthood from 2010 until the show’s cancellation in 2015. She received a Gracie Award in 2014 for her work in the part. On the short-lived ABC crime drama Wicked City, Christensen played Betty Beaumontaine.

Christensen was born in Seattle, Washington, the daughter of construction manager Kathy (nee Hendricks) and human resources executive Steven Christensen.

She has two younger twin brothers, Dane (who had an appearance in the 2005 movie The Upside of Anger), and Brando, as well as an older half-brother named Nick. She has ancestors from Denmark, Iceland, Sweden, Norway, Wales, and Ireland.

Up until the age of four, Christensen resided in Seattle; after that, her family moved to a suburb of Los Angeles, California. She got her start in television acting in Volvo and McDonald’s commercials. Christensen belongs to the Scientology church.

She was reared as a Scientologist by her parents, who converted to the religion in their 20s while residing in Seattle. Her parents made the choice to homeschool her as well.

Christensen’s first acting roles were in the 1997 releases/airings of the drama series Nothing Sacred and the comedy picture Leave It to Beaver, both of which were supporting roles. In the late 1990s, she continued to appear as a guest star in a variety of different television shows, such as Frasier, The Practice, 3rd Rock from the Sun, and Touched by an Angel.

Christensen also appeared in Can of Worms, a 1999 Disney Channel original film. She played Abigail Winthrop in the brief-lived CBS sitcom Thanks in 1999. She co-starred with actress Jena Malone in Michael Jackson’s “Childhood” music video that same year.

Christensen won prizes for Breakthrough Female Performance at the MTV Movie Awards, Standout Performance – Female at the Young Hollywood Awards, and Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture at the Screen Actors Guild Awards for her portrayal of cocaine user Caroline Wakefield in Steven Soderbergh’s crime drama film Traffic (2000).
