His easygoing blend of humility and swagger has propelled him to the forefront of a predominantly Black genre. Harlow debuted as a musician in 2015. Early Life:
Jack Harlow was born on March 13, 1998, in Shelbyville, Kentucky, to an upper-middle-class Christian family. According to GQ, Harlow is of American nationality with French and Irish ancestry. Harlow’s father, Brian Harlow, and mother, Maggie Harlow, are both entrepreneurs who own and operate their own companies. Clayborn Harlow, Jack’s younger brother, also exists.
Harlow attended Highland Middle School and Atherton High School, where he graduated in 2016. According to a Louisville report, Harlow developed an interest in music at a young age due to his mother’s love of music, who used to listen to rap music. At the age of 12, Harlow’s parents relocated with their family to Louisville, where a young Jack began his own rapping career.
When Jack was in middle school, he and his buddy Copelan would record rhymes and songs using a Guitar Hero mic. Harlow’s first mixtape was technically released when he decided to burn a CD, name it “Rippin’ and Rappin,” and sell copies at their Highland Middle School. Actor Harlow obtained a professional microphone when he was in the seventh grade and released his first ‘official’ mixtape, Extra Credit, under the name “Mr.Harlow.” Harlow and a group of his mates established a group known as the “Moose Gang.” Harlow collaborated with the Moose Gang on two mixtapes, Moose Gang and Music for the Deaf, both of which were never released.

He is also the co-founder of Private Garden, his own musical collective. His most famous song is “Whats Poppin,” which reached at number two on the Billboard Hot 100.
Harlow was born in Louisville and reared there. Harlow started rapping when he was 12 years old. He and a pal recorded rhymes and songs using a Guitar Hero microphone and a laptop. They created a CD called Rippin’ and Rappin’ and sold it at their school (Highland Middle School). Harlow bought a professional microphone in seventh school and released his debut mixtape, Extra Credit, under the alias “Mr. Harlow.”
Harlow graduated from Atherton High School in 2016. During his freshman year, his YouTube videos garnered the attention of big labels, but he declined all of the offers that were offered to him. Finally Handsome, his sophomore mixtape, was released in November 2014.
Harlow released his debut commercial album, The Handsome Harlow, in November 2015. It was distributed by Gill Holland’s sonaBLAST! record label. Throughout high school, he often performed at sold-out events at Louisville venues such as the Mercury Ballroom, Headliners, and the Haymarket Whiskey Bar. He released the mixtape 18, which was the debut album on his label and music collective, Private Garden, in June 2016, less than a month after finishing high school. The Homies, a group of Louisville rappers and producers Ace Pro, 2forwOyNE, Shloob, Quiiso, and Ronnie Lucciano, are also part of the collective. Harlow went on to play at South by Southwest, Bonnaroo, and the Forecastle Festival over the following year. He also spent time flying between Louisville and Atlanta to work with KY Engineering, an engineer/mixer. In March 2017, he released “Hitchcock,” a song created by 2forwOyNE and J-Reid.
He released the song “Routine” in the summer of 2017. In October of that year, he released a new track, “Dark Knight,” along with a music video. He thanks CyHi the Prynce for assisting him in overcoming writer’s block and finishing the song. The song was released in November 2017 as the first single from Harlow’s mixtape Gazebo. In promotion of the record, he embarked on a 14-city Gazebo Tour. The Homies supported Harlow on his tour, which concluded in January 2018. Harlow opened for Portugal, an indie rock band, in May 2018. On some tour dates, The Man will perform. The following month, he appeared on Skeme’s “Get Sumn” with Lil James and Sixteen.
Harlow signed with DJ Drama and Don Cannon’s Atlantic Records imprint, Generation Now, in August 2018. On the same day as the announcement, he also released a video for his track “SUNDOWN.” Loose, Harlow’s big label debut mixtape, was released on August 17. CyHi the Prynce, K Camp, 2forwOyNE, and Taylor all contributed verses to the album. He participated in the Genius IQ/BBQ event in September 2018. Harlow began a North American tour in support of Loose in November 2018, which is set to conclude in late December. That same month, he released a music video for “PICKYOURPHONEUP,” which featured K Camp. On August 21, 2019, Harlow released the single “Thru the Night,” which featured Bryson Tiller, and announced the start of his US tour, which began in October of that year.
In January 2020, he released “WHATS POPPIN,” which featured a music video directed by Cole Bennett, who had previously directed videos for Juice Wrld, Lil Tecca, Lil Skies, and Blueface. As of May 2022, the music video had received over 155 million views.
Harlow’s first chart-topper was “Industry Baby,” a collaboration with Lil Nas X that charted at number one on the Hot 100 in 2021.
